Day 1: Arrive Colombo
Upon your arrival at Colombo Airport, you will be warmly greeted by your tour guide holding a signboard with your name. You'll then be transferred to your hotel in Colombo. In the afternoon, embark on an insightful city tour of Colombo, starting with a drive through the Fort and Pettah, the city's bustling commercial area. You'll explore the tree-lined Cinnamon Gardens, known for its natural beauty, and visit the Hindu Temple at Sea Street, surrounded by charming goldsmith's shops. Discover the Dutch Church at Wolfendhal, a historical gem dating back to 1749, and visit prominent landmarks like Independence Hall, B.M.I.C.H, the replica of Avukana Buddha, Independence Square, and the serene Gangarama Temple. Spend your first night at the hotel in Colombo.
Day 2: Colombo - Dambulla (160kms/ 4hrs approx)
After an early breakfast, your adventure begins with a visit to the remarkable Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. This sanctuary is a loving home to elephants, including baby elephants that have been found abandoned or orphaned in the wild. The best times to visit are during feeding sessions at 9.15 am and 1.15 pm. After your heartwarming encounter with these majestic creatures, continue your journey to Dambulla, Sigiriya, or Habarana. Spend the night at your hotel in this enchanting region.
Day 3: Dambulla
After breakfast, set out on an extraordinary excursion to Polonnaruwa, Habarana, and Sigiriya. Polonnaruwa was the second capital of Sri Lanka from the 11th to the 13th century, and you'll explore its stunning shrine ruins, including Lankatilake, Thivanka, and Thuparama, which boast exquisite architecture and frescoes. Experience the thrill of an elephant-back safari in Habarana, where you'll ride atop one of these magnificent animals into the jungle, occasionally spotting wild herds of elephants. In the afternoon, embark on the ascent of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, also known as the "Fortress in the Sky," which dates back to the 5th century. This awe-inspiring site was built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD). Conclude the day with a return to your hotel in the evening.
Day 4: Dambulla - Kandy (75kms/ 2hrs approx)
Enjoy breakfast and then proceed to the charming city of Kandy. En route, you'll visit the ancient Dambulla cave temples dating back to the 1st century BC and explore a delightful spice garden in Matale. In the afternoon, your Kandy exploration commences with a visit to the Temple of the Tooth Relic, one of Sri Lanka's most sacred sites. Your sightseeing tour will also include a visit to a gem factory showcasing the diverse gems found in Sri Lanka. Lastly, pay your respects at the Kandy Garrison cemetery, a poignant historical landmark. In the evening, be enchanted by a cultural show, offering unique and unforgettable performances. Spend the night at your hotel in Kandy.
Day 5: Kandy - Nuwara Eliya (80kms/ 2hrs approx)
Following breakfast, you'll visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, the Temple of the Sacred Tooth, and embark on a luxury train ride from Peradeniya to Nanu Oya. This train journey, complete with complimentary lunch and onboard Wi-Fi, will treat you to breathtaking views of mountains, valleys, waterfalls, and tea plantations. Upon arriving at Nanu Oya station, you'll proceed with a city tour of Nuwara Eliya, fondly known as "Little England" due to its remarkable British influence. The town is surrounded by stunning landscapes that include mountains, valleys, and lush tea plantations. Explore the evidence of British colonial architecture, such as houses resembling country cottages or Queen Ann style mansions. Spend the night at your hotel in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 6: Nuwara Eliya - Departure
After enjoying breakfast, it's time to decide on your next adventure. You have the option of either being transferred to Colombo Airport or heading south to the beautiful beaches of Bentota for a relaxing getaway. The choice is yours, marking the end of your remarkable journey through Sri Lanka.
