The private Shore & Cities of Karnataka tour will begin in Mangalore, a gateway city connected with international flight. Explore the city on a sightseeing trip, then move to Hassan to visit the Hoysala architectural temple at Belur & Halebidu. Next head to Mysore & Bangalore both imperial cities have fort, palace and temple in its abundance. Then to Hampi to see centuries old UNESCO World Heritage Monuments of Vijayanagar Empire. At the end unwind at Hippie loved beach of Gokarna. At the end we will drop you off at Mangalore airport.
Day 1: Arrive Mangalore
On arrival at Mangalore airport assistance & transfer to hotel (hotel check in / out time 1200pm).
Later city tour of Mangalore visit Kadri Manjunath Temple, built in 1068 AD, this temple has the typical Hindu architectural style on the basic Vijaynagri style. The temple has many caves around it as it is located on hillocks. These caves have depictions that go back to prehistoric times. Mangaladevi Temple dedicated to Goddess Shakti, it is the oldest temple in Mangalore built in 900 AD. The grand temple spacious complex allows devotees to sit and meditate or chant after offering their prayers to feel rejuvenated and at peace.
Also visit St Aloysius Chapel, a Catholic Church and a famous attraction set atop the Lighthouse Hill and has a regal look which is breathtaking right from the entrance. The unique wall paintings of St. Aloysius Chapel are stunning. The view of the Arabian Sea from the campus is worth the trip if one wishes to capture a part of the history and the natural landscape of this part of the city. Rosario Cathedral, a 16th-century Roman Catholic church, a magnificent structure with a beautiful interior. The cross and the dome on the Cathedral are easily visible to the ships approaching the Mangalore Harbour. The Cross is lit every evening and serves as guiding light for fishermen and seamen. Day 2: Mangalore - Hassan (180kms)
Breakfast at hotel, drive to Hassan check in at hotel.
Later visit Belur, once the capital of the Hoysala Empire is known for its exquisite temples. Celebrated temple of Chennakeshava built by the Hoysala King Vishnuvardhana in 1117 AD, is one of the finest examples of Hoysala architecture. Everything is carved in black stone looking like metal. Kappe Chennigaraya Temple is another majestic 12th CE temple built next to a pond. The stone architecture has splendid carvings and bas-relief work. Temple complex include two ornate pillars, one of the Garuda built during the Vijaynagar period and one with a lamp built during the Hoysala period. Lakshmi temple, Sowmyanayaki temple & Ranganayaki temple are other temple in same complex.
Next in Halebidu visit the Hoysaleswara Temple built in 12th century surrounded by ponds, mantapas and lakes. It is well known for the sculptures and architecture of Hoysala period standing on platform like a casket, richly endowed with most finely detailed scroll work in stone. The walls of the temple are covered with an endless variety of gods and goddesses. Other temple in Halebidu are Kadareswara Temple, Lakshmi Narasimha Temple, Ishvara Temple, Koravangala Temple, Lakshmi Devi temple & Hulikere Pond. Also visit the Jain bastics. Overnight at hotel.
Day 3: Hassan - Mysore (140kms)
Breakfast at hotel, drive to Mysore via visiting Shravanabelagola one of the most important Jain pilgrim enters. Visit Vindhyagiri Hill where a 17m high naked Lord Bahubali (Gommateshwara) the world tallest monolithic statue, is placed. And Chandragiri Hill which is also a seat of several ancient Jain centers, much older than Gommateshwara statue.
Arrive Mysore check in at hotel. Later visit Mysore Palace built in the 1912 for the 24th Ruler of the Wodeyar Dynasty and is counted amongst one of the biggest palaces in the country. Chamundi Hills, site of the Chamundeswari Temple, one among the 18 Maha Shakti Peethas located on the eastern edge at the height of 1000ft. The temple also has statues of Nandi Bull and Mahishasura the demon. City Palace which was re-built by Henry Irwin during 1897 in an indo-saracenic style. The palace contains astonishing wall paintings, authentic stained glass work and ornamented doors. St. Philomena`s Church the second tallest church of Asia built in Neo-Gothic style of architecture. Jaganmohan Palace that housed the royals before the construction of The Mysore palace, this structure displays various paintings of the past kings of Mysore and is one of the oldest buildings in the city. Day 4: Mysore - Bangalore (150kms)
Breakfast at hotel, drive to Bangalore check in at hotel.
Later visit Lal Bagh Garden which houses over 1800 species of flora including rare and enchanting collection of tropical plants, trees and herbs. Cubbon Park a landmark area located within the heart of the city. The Bangalore Fort a living testimony of the notorious struggle of the Mysore Empire against the mighty Britishers. Tippu`s Summer Palace the magnificent accommodation of the valiant ruler of Mysore Tipu Sultan. Bangalore Palace an epitome of great architecture and beauty a mixture of Tudor & Scottish Gothic architecture. The Bull Temple one of the oldest temples in the city. Also drive pass the Government buildings Vidhana Soudha & the Secretariat. Overnight at hotel.
Day 5: Bangalore - Hampi (330kms)
Breakfast at hotel, drive to Hampi via visiting Chitradurg Fort, built during the 17th and 18th century have gone through the hands of several rulers and undergone the transformation. But the fort was expanded during the rule of Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan. Within the fort are temples, masjid, storage for oil and grain and a citadel. The Hidimbeshwar temple situated within the fort is the oldest among the 20 temples and a must see`s place. The temple is carved out of a rock and has the influence of the Dravidian culture.
Continue drive to Hampi check in & overnight at hotel.
Day 6: Hampi
Breakfast at hotel. City tour of City tour of Hampi an UNESCO world Heritage sites dotted with numerous ruined temple complexes from the Vijayanagara Empire on the bank of the River Tungabhadra. Although the city was destroyed by marauding Moghul invaders in the 16th century, much of it remains today. The vast site of monuments and ruins are a mute witness to an ear of glories, triumphs and tragedies. The ruins of Hampi are so majestic and imposing that they leave the visitor totally dumbfounded, awestruck and humbled. Visit Hazara Rama Temple, Kings Balance, Mahanavami Dibba, Royal enclosures, Statue of Ugra Narasimha Temple, Virupaksha Temple, Vithala Temple Complex, Lotus Mahal & ASI Museum. Overnight at hotel.
Day 7: Hampi - Gokarna (310kms)
Breakfast at hotel, drive to Gokarna enroute visit Lakkundi a heaven of ancient temples ruins and step wells. It is a place of antiquarian interest with more than 50 ancient temples scattered all over the village & 101 stepped wells built during the rule of the Chalukyas, Seuna, Kalachuris and Hoysalas. These temples are most famous for their ornate and elaborate furnishing. And Gadag a place of historical importance, famous for its ancient Hindu & Jain temples and medieval architecture. Constructed between the 10th to 12th CE by the Kings of Chalukyan Empire, the Trikuteshewara Temple is famous for its style of architecture and the temple has three Shivalingas carved out of a single rock.
Continue drive to Gokarna check in & overnight at hotel.
Day 8: Gokarna
Breakfast at hotel. City tour of Gokarna a town on the Arabian Sea, and a popular pilgrimage destination for Hindus, known for sacred sites Mahabaleshwar Temple, which has a shrine dedicated to the deity Shiva. A 6 feet tall Shiva Linga here built using white granite is a classic example of the beauty of Dravidian architecture. A 1500 years old carved stone Lord Shiva idol in the standing position represents the main deity. The temple has been mentioned in the Hindu Mythics of Mahabharata and Ramayana and it is said to be as significant as Kashi. Nearby, Koti Teertha is a temple tank where devotees wash in the holy waters. The town is also home to beaches such as palm-lined Gokarna, Kudle and Om beach, a hippy paradise. Rest time free and easy to relax on the beach. Overnight at hotel.

Day 10: Gokarna - Mangalore (230kms)
Breakfast at hotel, drive to Mangalore enroute visit 13th-century Sri Krishna Temple, adorned with jewels and a golden chariot. What makes the temple unique, is its worshipping pattern. The prayers and process of the whole worship take place only through a silver-plated window with nine holes called the Navagraha Kitiki. A temple known as Udupi Anantheshwara Temple surrounds the Shree Krishna Matha. This temple traces back to 1,000 years. The temple bears a resemblance to a living ashram, fostering daily life and devotion.
Continue drive to Mangalore and drop off to airport to board departure flight.
