Then proceed to Dwaraka & Somnath to visit magnificent temples and pilgrimage center of Hindus. Continue to Sasan Gir National Park and enjoy lion safari in deciduous forest rich in floral & faunal diversity. Make an excursion visit to ancient fortified city Junagadh. Next head to Diu a port town once ruled by Portuguese with historic fort & churches. Accompanied tour guide and transport will remain on disposal at your service.

 

Day 1: Arrive Rajkot

On arrival at Rajkot airport assistance & transfer to hotel. 
Later visit Jubilee Garden a large open park area featuring many monuments of colonial time. The Garden include the historic Mohandas Gandhi High School, Kaba Gandhi No Delo, Rashtriya Shala, Watson Museum, Lang Library, and Rotary Midtown Library. The museum also houses a varied collection of old artefact`s from the ancient city of Mohenjodaro. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 2: Rajkot - Dwarka (225kms)

Breakfast at hotel, drive to Dwarka check in at hotel. The Dwarkadhish temple dedicated to the god Krishna. The main shrine of the five storied building, supported by 72 pillars, is known as Jagat Mandir. Archaeological findings suggest it to be 2000 - 2200 years old. The original temple believed to have been built by Krishna`s grandson, Vajranabha, over the hari-griha, was enlarged in the 15th- 16th century. Swami Narayan Temple, located very close to the beautiful seashore and the Dwarkadish temple a relatively new structure, with intricate architecture expressed through sculptures and embossed wall work. Nageshwar Temple, located on the route between Dwarka city and Beyt Dwarka Island, it enshrined one of the 12 Jyothirlingas in an underground sanctum. Rukhmini Devi Temple, a 12th-century remnant having some evident architectural marvels of the time through its mural carvings and other structures. Rest time free to relax on the beach. Day 3: Dwarka - Somnath (230kms)

Breakfast at hotel, drive to Somnath, enroute visit Porbandar the birth place of Mahatma Gandhi. The Haveli where Gandhi was born on Oct 2, 1869. The room where he was born has been preserved as it is, and has a stark look. A part of the house has now been converted into a museum and called the Kirti Mandir. Open from 9am to 12pm and again from 3pm to 6pm. 
Continue drive to Somnath and check in at hotel. Later visit Somnath Temple believed to have been built in gold by the moon god Soma, in silver by the sun god Ravi, in wood by Krishna and in stone by the Solanki Rajputs in the 11th century. The present temple built in 1951, is the seventh reconstruction on the original site. Tales of its riches attracted a series of invasions, but each time the temple was invaded, it was restored to its original glory by devout Hindu worshipers. Paanch Pandav Caves situated in the Lalghati where Pandav spent time during the term of their exile. Suraj Mandir the architecture features many animal figurines like lions, and huge elephant trunks. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 4: Somnath - Sasan Gir (45kms) 

Breakfast at hotel, drive to Sasan Gir National Park and check in at hotel. Gypsy safari in Gir Wildlife Sanctuary sprawling in an area of 1424 sq kms. Gir forest is the only place in the world, outside Africa, where the lion can be seen in its natural habitat. Other predators are panther & hyena. Sambhar, Chital, Blue Bull, Chinkara and four horned antelope are found here along with the bear and the long tailed langur. Gir is also one of the finest bird sanctuaries. Some of the typical birds of Gir are the crested serpent eagle, crested hawk eagle, brown fish owl, king vulture, jungle quail, paradise flycatcher, pygmy woodpecker, hard headed oriole etc. Another attraction is a crocodile farm developed in the forest. Lunch, dinner & overnight at hotel.

 

Day 5: Sasan Gir 

Breakfast at hotel. Morning Jeep safari in National Park.
Later excursion to visit Junagadh. In Junagarh visit Mohabbat Maqbara, built in the late 19th century is a mausoleum known for its unique architecture. It houses the tombs of Mohabbat khanji and Bahaduddin Hasainbhai. This monument is a unique example of Indo-Islamic and Gothic architecture with finely designed arches, elaborate stone carvings on the walls and windows, silver-decorated portals, the winding staircases encircling its four tall minarets, the old step-well in the grounds and its onion-shaped dome. Junagarh is an ancient fortified city rich in myth and legend, Junagadh lies at the foot of the temple-studded Girnar Hill. It derives its name from the 'old fort', which circles the medieval town. The Girnar Hills that landscape Junagadh are a holy sanctuary to the Jains. The history of Mount Girnar dates back to the awesome empire of Ashoka, one of India's greatest emperors. Ashoka inscribed 14 edicts on a huge boulder en-route to Mt. Girnar peak. Junagadh's main feature is the Uperkot fort (upper fort), a somber and inaccessible fortress. Drive back to Sasan Gir. Lunch, dinner & Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 6: Sasan Gir - Diu (100kms)

Breakfast at hotel, drive to Diu check in at hotel. 
Later visit Diu Fort a very large and imposing structure, situated on the coast of the island. This fort was constructed between 1535 and 1541 AD after the treaty signed between the Sultan of Gujarat and the Portuguese. The fort is surrounded by the sea on the three sides and a canal on the fourth side. On the fort stands a giant structure which now houses a Light House and the Diu jail. Several canons are still located on the top of the fort and peep out of the holes on the walls of this gigantic structure. Old Town has a few old mansions belonging to rich Portuguese and Indian merchants. The colorful three-story Nagar Sheth Haveli has porticoes, carved balconies, stone-made lions and intricate arches in European and Indian styles. Rest time free to relax on the beach. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 7: Diu 

Breakfast at hotel. Day free and easy to relax on the beach and personal activities. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 8: Diu - Departure

Breakfast at hotel. As per flight schedule transfer to airport to board flight for onward destination. (Standard hotel check out time 11 AM).
