Embark on a cultural expedition from Pune to Raigad Fort and delve into the rich history of the Maratha kingdom. Your day begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Pune, followed by a scenic drive to Raigad Fort. Upon arrival, you can choose to climb the steps or take the ropeway to the top of the fort. Explore the various attractions including the Nagarkhana Darwaja, Mena Darwaja, Maha Darwaja, and Palkhi Darwaja, and learn about the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Indulge in traditional Maharashtrian cuisine during a lunch break, and continue your cultural journey before returning to Pune in the evening.

 

7:00 AM - Your driver will pick you up from your hotel in Pune city. Make sure you are ready on time to avoid any delays.

7:00 AM to 10:00 AM - Drive from Pune to Raigad Fort. The journey takes approximately three hours, depending on traffic conditions. Enjoy the scenic views of the Sahyadri mountain range and the surrounding countryside as you drive towards the fort.

10:00 AM to 10:30 AM - Arrival at the base of Raigad Fort. You will have some time to prepare for the ascent. You can choose to climb the 1737 steps that lead to the top of the fort, or take the ropeway, which is a quicker and more convenient option. The ropeway takes around 15 minutes to reach the top of the fort, and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

10:30 AM to 1:00 PM - Explore the fort and its various attractions. Raigad Fort is a symbol of Maratha pride and has immense historical significance. The fort was the capital of the Maratha kingdom under Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and is a reminder of his bravery and audacity. You can visit the Nagarkhana Darwaja, which was used to announce important news to the people, the Mena Darwaja, which was the main entrance to the fort, the Maha Darwaja, which was used for the king's procession, and the Palkhi Darwaja, which was used to carry the king's palanquin. You can also see the statue of Shivaji erected in front of the ruins of the main market avenue that eventually leads to his own Samadhi and that of his beloved dog. The fort is spread over a large area and there are many other attractions that you can explore at your own pace.

1:00 PM to 2:00 PM - Lunch break at a nearby restaurant. There are several restaurants near the fort that offer traditional Maharashtrian cuisine, as well as other Indian and international dishes. You can choose to have a sit-down lunch or grab a quick bite on the go. Lunch expenses are not included in the tour cost.

2:00 PM to 4:30 PM - Continue exploring the fort or take a leisurely stroll around its scenic surroundings.

4:30 PM to 7:30 PM - Drive back to Pune city and drop off at your hotel.
