Step back in time aboard the Kalka-Shimla Toy Train, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built in 1903. This toy train ride is one of India's most incredible feats of engineering covering a staggering 102 tunnels, 864 bridges and 919 stunning curves. Visit Shimla once the summer capital of British & Mussoorie a favorite hill station of British in the foothills of the Himalayan.

 

Day 1: Arrive Delhi

On arrival at Delhi airport assistance & transfer to hotel (Standard hotel check in time 12pm, early check in subject to room availability). Rest time free for personal activities. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 2: Delhi

Breakfast at hotel, city tour of Delhi. In Old Delhi visit the majestic Red Fort (closed on Monday) the residence of the Mughal emperor for nearly 200 years until 1857. Jama Masjid one of the largest mosques in the world built by Shah Jahan. Cycle Rickshaw ride in Chandni chowk & Khari Baoli Spice Market a busy shopping area with markets full of spices, dried fruit, silver jewelry and vivid saris, while the narrow side streets are crowded with tiny shops selling essential oils, stationery and traditional Indian sweets. Raj Gath the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi where he was cremated after his assassination. 
In New Delhi visit Humayun Tomb the first garden-tomb in Indian subcontinent and an early example of Mughal architecture commissioned by Humayun`s first wife Empress Bega Begum in 1569-70. Qutab Minar a 73-metres tall minaret that forms part of the Qutb complex a fine examples of Afghan architecture. Lotus Temple a Bahai House of Worship notable for its flowerlike shape. Also drive pass President House, Parliament & India Gate etc. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 3: Delhi - Agra (204kms)

Breakfast at hotel, drive to Agra check in at hotel. 
Later visit Taj Mahal an ivory-white marble mausoleum commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to house the tomb of his favourite wife Mumtaz Mahal, it also houses the tomb of Shah Jahan himself. Agra Fort the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty until 1638. And Itmad-ud-Daula Tomb commissioned by Nur Jahan for her father Mirza Ghiyas Beg. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 4: Agra - Fatehpur Sikri - Abhaneri - Jaipur (245kms)

Breakfast at hotel, drive to Jaipur via visiting Fatehpur Sikri an abandoned predominately a red sandstone construction sprawling over a huge area. See the graceful buildings including Diwan-E-Khas hall, Jodha Bai Palace, Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chisti, Panch Mahal & Buland Darwaza. Next stop to visit Abhaneri a small village popular for India`s deepest, largest and amazing step well & a Hindu Temple. 
Continue drive to Jaipur check in at hotel. Evening explore the local market of Pink City. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 5: Jaipur 

Breakfast at hotel, city tour of Jaipur the first planned city of India. Established in 1727 by Jai Singh II, the king of Amber when he shifted his capital from Amber to the new city because of the rapidly-growing population and an increasing water scarcity. Noted architect Vidyadhar Bhattacharya used the established principles of Vastu Shastra to build the city. In 1876, the Prince of Wales visited Jaipur and the entire Jaipur city was painted in pink the symbolic colors of hospitality to welcome him. Jaipur rises up majestically against the backdrop of the forts Nahargarh, Jaigarh and Garh Ganesh Temple. 
In morning visit Amber Fort followed by Jaigarh Fort. Later visit City Palace, Observatory, Hawa Mahal, Sisodia Rani Garden & Birla temple. Explore the famous bazaars of Pink City with its rich history and heritage exudes an amazing mix of royalty and art. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 6: Jaipur - Chandigarh (Flight)

Breakfast at hotel, transfer to airport to board flight for Chandigarh. 
On arrival transfer to hotel check in at hotel. Later visit the best-planned city in India, with architecture which is world-renowned, and a quality of life, which is unparalleled. The face of modern India Chandigarh is the manifestation of a dream that Le Corbusier executed. Chandigarh is a rare epitome of modernization co-existing with natures preservation. These have been planted beautifully carved out lawns and flowers beds. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 7: Chandigarh - Shimla (115kms)

Transfer to Kalka railway station to board toy train to Shimla. On arrical assistance and transfer to hotel. Rest time free to relax & visit The Mall. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 8: Shimla 

Breakfast at hotel. City tour of Shimla, once the summer capital of British India. Visit Jakhoo Temple, an ancient site dedicated to monkey god Hanuman. Set amidst the lush green background of the Shivalik hill ranges on Jakhoo Hill, the highest point in Shimla, Temple has the world`s largest Hanuman statue, which is visible from most parts of Shimla. The Christ Church the second oldest church in entire northern India. The church, which took 11 long years to complete, stands as a reminder of the British colonisation in India. Viceregal Lodge, built in 1888, this six story building constructed in Scottish Baronial style once served as the residence of Lord Dufferin, the British Viceroy of India, is a perfect place for history lovers. Today, this lodge houses several articles and pictures that will remind you of the British rule.

Also visit The Ridge a wide open street located on the side of Shimla Mall Road. Best known for shopping it is often the most photographed part of the hill station covered with pine, firs, Himalayan Oak and Rhododendron trees. The Scandal Point, located on the Mall Road. It owes its interesting name to the fact that the King of Patiala abducted the daughter of the Viceroy, because he fell in love with her, from this very place. The Mall an ideal spot for shopping, besides a number of good eating joints. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 9: Shimla 

Breakfast at hotel. Excursion to Chail known for its salubrious beauty and virgin forests. And Kufri offer breathtaking Excursion to visit Chail - a small village situated at a height of 2250 m above sea level known for its salubrious beauty and virgin forests. Surrounded by lush greenery and mesmerizing views from such a great height, Chail is a hiker`s paradise. The Chail Palace built as summer retreat by the Maharaja of Patiala during the British Raj is well known for its architecture. The cricket ground at an altitude of 2,444 m is the world highest cricket ground.

Next head to Kufri - which offer breathtaking views, stunning locales and tranquil surroundings. Kufri has a Himalayan wildlife zoo which hosts rare antelopes, felines and birds including the Himalayan monal. On the way back to Shimla stop at The Green Valley the beautiful and breathtaking mountain range that falls on the way to Kufri & Shimla. The Green Valley is surrounded by verdant hills on all sides that are covered with thick forests of pine and deodar. It is not uncommon to sight some Yaks wandering and grazing around in the valley. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 10: Shimla - Mussoorie (260kms)

Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Mussoorie check in at hotel. Rest time free to relax and spend the time at The Mall renowned shopping district situated in the heart of Mussoorie. It is dotted with shops, cafes and a host of colonial remnants that point to Mussoories past glories.

 

Day 11: Mussoorie 

Breakfast at hotel. Mussoorie, known as the Queen of the Hills, and famous for its scenic beauty, is a fascinating hill resort. It commands a wonderful view of the extensive Himalayan snow ranges in the north-west and glittering views of the Doon Valley. The town retains much of its colonial charm and is well worth a visit for its beautiful scenery and lovely walks.

Visit Gun Hill the second highest point of Mussoorie, at an altitude of 2,024 m. Sir George Everests House also known as Park Estate, built in 1832. It was the residence and laboratory of Sir George Everest, the surveyor General of India. Lal Tibba the highest point in Mussoorie offering a panoramic view of the town and its surroundings. The place is famous for a Japanese telescope which was placed here in 1967. One can view Badrinath, Kedarnath, Banderpunch and other Himalyan ranges from this telescope. Kempty Falls, nestled at an altitude of around 4500 ft above the sea level & surrounded by high mountain cliffs, the pond formed at the bottom of the falls makes an excellent spot for swimming and bathing.

Day 12: Mussoorie - Delhi (275kms)

Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Delhi check in at hotel. Rest time free to relax and visit any place of your interest with your driver. Overnight at hotel.
