Day 1: Arrive Paro - Half Day Sightseeing

Upon your arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, embark on a sightseeing tour of Paro. Visit the National Museum of Bhutan, housed in the ancient watchtower of Paro Dzong. Explore the museum's fascinating collection of artifacts, including traditional Bhutanese art and historical relics. Continue to Paro Rinpung Dzong, a magnificent fortress-monastery that overlooks the Paro valley. Admire its intricate architecture and immerse yourself in the serene atmosphere. Day 2: Paro – Punakha (115kms)

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan. En route, make a stop at Dochula Pass, located at an altitude of 3,100 meters. Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the snow-capped Himalayan mountain range and the iconic 108 memorial chortens. Continue your journey to Punakha and visit Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Temple of Fertility. This sacred temple is dedicated to Drukpa Kunley, a famous saint known as the "Divine Madman." In the evening, visit Punakha Dzong, a majestic fortress situated at the confluence of the Mo Chu and Pho Chu rivers. Marvel at its impressive architecture and serene surroundings. Day 3: Punakha - Thimphu (75kms)

After breakfast, drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. On the way, visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress in Bhutan, which now serves as a school for the study of the Dzongkha language. Continue your journey to Thimphu and check in at your hotel. In Thimphu, visit the National Memorial Chorten, a beautiful Tibetan-style stupa built in honor of the third king of Bhutan. Explore its ornate interior and witness locals offering prayers. Later, visit the impressive Buddha Dordenma statue, a massive bronze statue of Lord Buddha that overlooks the Thimphu valley. Enjoy panoramic views of the city from this vantage point. Overnight in Thimphu.

 

Day 4: Thimphu

After breakfast, start your day by visiting the Takin Preserve, a wildlife reserve where you can see Bhutan's unique national animal, the takin. Learn about the fascinating history and conservation efforts dedicated to these magnificent creatures. Next, visit Tashichho Dzong, a grand fortress that houses the throne room and offices of the king, as well as several government ministries. Admire the intricate Bhutanese architecture and explore the beautiful courtyards. In the evening, explore the local craft markets and shops in Thimphu, where you can find a wide variety of traditional Bhutanese handicrafts and souvenirs. Overnight in Thimphu.

 

Day 5: Paro (Taktsang Hike)

After breakfast, drive to the base of Taktsang Monastery (Tiger's Nest) and begin the exhilarating hike to the monastery. Trek through pine forests and enjoy breathtaking views of the Paro valley along the way. The hike takes approximately 2-3 hours, depending on your pace. Arrive at Taktsang Monastery, perched on a cliff at an altitude of 900 meters. Explore the monastery complex and its sacred caves, where Guru Rinpoche is said to have meditated. Absorb the spiritual atmosphere and take in the awe-inspiring surroundings. Descend back to the base and return to Paro.

 

Day 6: Paro - Departure

After breakfast, bid farewell to Bhutan as you transfer to Paro International Airport for your departure flight. Your guide will assist you with the check-out process and ensure your smooth departure. Take with you beautiful memories and a deep appreciation for the enchanting kingdom of Bhutan.
