Day 1: Arrive in Bhubaneswar
Upon arrival at Bhubaneswar airport, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. Bhubaneswar is often referred to as the "City of Temples" due to its numerous ancient temples. You will embark on a city tour visiting famous temples including Rajarani, Parsurameswar, Mukteswar, Brahmeswar, and Lingaraj, each with its unique architectural and historical significance. Later, you will visit Khandagiri and Udaigiri Jain caves, the oldest rock-cut caves, known for their rock-cut architecture and ancient inscriptions. You will also visit the Dhauli peace pagoda, a Buddhist monument symbolizing peace and non-violence. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Bhubaneswar - Bhitarakanika National Park (200kms/ 4hrs approx)
After breakfast, you will drive to Bhitarakanika via visiting Ratnagiri, Udaigiri & Lalitgiri excavated Buddhist sites filled with many stupas cut out from rock and ancient monasteries. These sites are important archaeological and historical landmarks, offering insights into ancient Buddhist culture. Upon arrival at Bhitarakanika National Park, you will check-in at a Jungle Cottage/Tent. In the evening, you will take a boat safari in the mangrove forest. This boat safari offers you a chance to witness the unique ecosystem of mangroves and spot estuarine crocodiles, as well as a variety of bird species including different varieties of Kingfisher. Overnight at Jungle Cottage/Tent.
Day 3: Bhitarakanika National Park - Similipal Tiger Reserve (200kms/ 4hrs approx)
After breakfast, you will continue to explore the land of crocodiles in their own mangrove habitat. The day's activities will include visiting Bagagahan Bird Sanctuary, known for its avian diversity, and climbing the watchtower to look for pelicans and different varieties of storks. Later, you will drive to Similipal Tiger Reserve, a tiger reserve in the heart of Similipal's dense forests. Upon arrival, you will check-in at a Jungle Cottage/Tent. Dinner and overnight at Jungle Cottage/Tent.
Day 4: Similipal Tiger Reserve
After breakfast, you will enjoy a Jeep safari in Similipal Tiger Reserve, one of India's most diverse and rich wildlife reserves. The reserve is home to a wide range of wildlife, including tigers, leopards, sloth bears, elephants, gaurs, and numerous other species. Of special note, Similipal is the only home for the unique melanistic tiger in the world. The park is also a haven for bird watchers, with 361 species of birds. After the safari, the rest of the day is free for personal activities, relaxation, or further wildlife exploration. Dinner and overnight at Jungle Cottage/Tent.
Day 5: Similipal Tiger Reserve - Kolkata (300kms/ 6hrs approx)
After breakfast, you will drive to Kolkata, one of India's most vibrant and culturally rich cities. Upon arrival, you will check-in at the hotel. The rest of the day is free for relaxation and leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 6: Kolkata
After breakfast, you will embark on a comprehensive city tour of Kolkata. This tour will provide an in-depth exploration of the city's diverse cultural and historical landmarks. You will visit Fort William, a massive colonial-era edifice built during the early years of the Bengal Presidency, and the Victoria Memorial, a stunning white marble monument dedicated to Queen Victoria and surrounded by lush gardens. You'll also explore the lively markets of New Market and the colorful flower market at Malik Ghat, both providing a glimpse into Kolkata's bustling daily life. The tour continues with a visit to the St. Paul's Cathedral, an impressive Anglican cathedral built in the Gothic revival style. Next, you'll visit the iconic Howrah Bridge, one of the most popular bridges in India, built over the river Hooghly. The final stop is Dakshineswar Kali Temple, a major pilgrimage center dedicated to the goddess Kali. The rest of the day is free for personal activities or further exploration. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 7: Kolkata - Departure (flight)
After breakfast, as per your flight schedule, you will be transferred to the airport for your onward journey. This marks the end of your incredible journey through Bhubaneswar, Bhitarakanika, Similipal Tiger Reserve, and Kolkata, where you've explored the rich cultural, historical, and natural heritage of eastern India.
