This trip provides a perfect symmetry of cultural delight with trekking opulence. It incorporates Nepal’s cultural highlights, the wildlife, along with a gentle trek. In Kathmandu valley, visit the religious edifices and attractions, fortified with rich historical pedigree. Then a gentle walk through the foothills of Annapurna Sanctuary, in consistent backdrop of awe inspiring Himalayan mountain ranges, introduces you to the world of trekking for which Nepal is famous. Enjoy and relax in the natural beauty of Pokhara valley, and then take on a wildlife safari in Chitwan National Park.
Day 1; Arrive Kathmandu (B)
On arrival at Kathmandu airport assistance and transfer to hotel. Afternoon, an introductory tour of Kathmandu walking thru Kathmandu Durbar Square. Then walk past Asan and Indrachowk markets, rubbing shoulders with locals towards Thamel, seeing so many old houses, markets and temples along the way. Explore Thamel, the center of tourists in Kathmandu, where you will find shops selling curios, handicrafts, trekking gears and number of good restaurants. Overnight at hotel.
Day 2; Kathmandu UNESCO World Heritage site Tour (B)
Breakfast at hotel. Full day guided tour of Kathmandu valley visit Pashupatinath temple, the holiest Hindu temple of Nepal, located on the banks of Bagmati river. Journey up the hilltop to Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), which is fascinating, chaotic jumble of Buddhist and Hindu iconography, soaring above Kathmandu city. Then drive short distance to Patan, known as the city of Arts. You will be provided some free time here to eat lunch, browse shops and local galleries. On the way back to the hotel, stop by Bodhnath (or Boudha), Asia’s largest chorten, that pulses with life as thousands of pilgrims gather daily to make a kora (ritual circumnavigation) of the dome, beneath the watchful eyes of the Buddha, which gaze out from the gilded central tower. This is one of the few places in the world where Tibetan Buddhist culture is accessible and unfettered, and the lanes around the stupa are crammed with monasteries and workshops producing butter lamps, ceremonial horns, Tibetan drums, monks’ headgear and the other paraphernalia essential for Tibetan Buddhist life. Day 3; Fly to Pokhara and Trek Kimche to Ghandruk (B, L,D)
Breakfast at hotel transfer to airport to board 20-min flight to Pokhara valley. Transfer to the trail head and begin trekking from sub-tropical area to Gandruk village (1990m), which should take less than 3hrs (350m ascent). A porter and also guide will accompany you through-out the trek. We will have time to explore the village. Overnight in a decent lodge with attached bathroom.
Day 4; Trek to Tadapani (B, L,D)
With more time to visit Gandruk village in the morning, begin our second day of walk through the forests filled with rhododendron and magnolia trees for about 3-4hrs to arrive in Tadapani (2700m). The lodge here does not have attached bathroom and toilets are located just outside the room. It is necessary to stop here to break our long journey.
Day 5; Trek Tadapani to Ghorepani (B, L,D)
Leaving Tadapani, we descend and ascend several times with great views, passing many small villages along the way. It takes between 3-5 hours depending on one’s ability. It is around 710m ascent & 550m descent and we should arrive in the afternoon with enough time to visit Poon Hill today, if you wish.
Day 6; Poon Hill & Trek to Ulleri – Hile (Trek End) & drive to Pokhara (B, L)
Early this morning (before dawn), you have an option to embark on the hike to Poon Hill. Then we have a long decent downhill (1350m), which takes between 4-6 hrs. At the end of the trek, meet our vehicle and transfer to the hotel in Pokhara.
Day 7; Full day in Pokhara (B)
Breakfast at hotel. Full day to relax and tour in tranquil Pokhara valley, surrounded by green hills, in the shadows of mighty snowcapped peaks. Overnight at hotel.
Day 8 & 9; In Chitwan National Park (B)
Breakfast at hotel drive by through the southern foothills to the jungles of Terai plains Chitwan National Park. Check into your hotel. After your arrival here, there will be many activities such as village tour, ox-cart ride, slide presentation, Jungle Safaris by Elephant/Jeep, Canoe trip, Cultural show, Nature walk to see the birds and also visit elephant breeding and Gharial farm. Overnight at resort.
Day 8 & 9; In Chitwan National Park (B)
Breakfast at hotel, full day for jungle activities. Overnight at resort.
Day 10; Fly Chitwan to Kathmandu (B)
After breakfast transfer to Bharatpur airport in time for your flight to Kathmandu. Rest time free and easy to relax and explore the sites of your interest. Overnight at hotel.
Day 11; Departure (B)
Breakfast at hotel. As per your flight schedule transfer to airport to board your departure flight to next destination.
Cost range from $1500 -$2500 per person depending on number of participant and the type of hotel you choose in Chitwan, Kathmandu & Pokhara and also sometimes varies by travel dates. Details available upon request.
